Description

Circle of Security has established a parenting reflection program offering the core components of the evidence-based and internationally acclaimed Circle of Security protocol. This seminar trains professionals to use an eight-chapter video to reflect with parents and caregivers. The program presents video examples of secure and problematic parent/child interaction, healthy options in care giving, and animated graphics designed to clarify principles central to COSP. COSP implements decades of attachment research in an accessible step-by-step process for use in group settings, home visitation, or individual counseling.

Format

This offering may take place virtually or in-person and will be decided by Right Start for Colorado prior to scheduling an event. 

Learning Objectives

This program works with parents and caregivers to help them: 
  • Understand their child's emotional world by learning to read emotional needs
  • Support their child's ability to successfully manage emotions 
  • Enhance the development of their child's self esteem
  • Honor the innate wisdom of and desire for their child to be secure 
This intensive and experiential training provides early childhood professionals with the tools and resources to become a Registered Circle of Security Facilitator®.

Target Audience

Social workers, marriage and family therapists, mental health counselors, home visitors, family support workers, outreach workers, behavior support specialists, and anyone providing parenting education and/or counseling to parents of young children.

Training Duration

If the training event occurs in-person, it will occur across 4 full days. 
 
If the training event occurs virtually it will be a combination of self-paced asynchronous learning and live interactive and reflective virtual sessions comprising of 5 live virtual meetings: one 1 hour orientation, four 2 hour interactive sessions with breakout groups and approximately 16 hours self-paced asynchronous learning.
